Hi all,

The Luxembourg Tech School (www.techschool.lu) is an extra curricular activity for high school students in Luxembourg. Check the website for some videos about what we do.

We are looking for tech enthusiasts to become coaches for the next school year.

You would assist existing coaches to deliver content and guide the students during the school year on game dev, data manipulation and UX. Usually 2 lessons per week.

All materials are pre made.

DM me.

Ps: you get compensated for this work.

Edit (more information).

Basically the role of a coach is to assist in the classes which are normally 2 lessons (2 hours max.) per week. We usually run classes on campus and depending on the location, it will be after school, or an Option wihin the official school curriculum (for instance Mamer and Esch).

The basic idea is to do flip classroom, which means we do all work project based and start with hands-on tutorials (step by step) to get kids into the topic. The goal of the different module is to teach tech with a purpose, so it’s not a coding school, but we show kids how to use tech to solve problems.

Module 1 is Game Development. For this, we use visual coding in Unity and within 12 weeks the kids will create their own games and showcase their games to a jury from the industry. Module 2 is about data manipulation and similarly, they will pick their own datasets and do some interesting analytics by the end of the trimester. Finally, In the UX module, they learn how to prototype apps and use a real sandbox banking API to participate in a weekend long fintech hackathon at the end.

Knowledge needed: Tech enthusiast with a wish to learn new things is plenty enough. So basic coding skills would be great, but not 100% required. Education level is irrevelant.

Contract type: individual service contract as an independant (all freelance coaches work in the industry a fulltime job).

Students allowed: Yes, we allow students with student contracts, and we also can hire them as employees within student / labor law.

  1. While that does sound like an exciting project, a little more information would be interesting. Meaning lesson/course duration, level of expertise, contract type (freelance?), students allowed?

  2. +1 on please more information. I was already looking for an opportunity to volunteer to teach some maths/physics/data analysis, and this sounds like a good opportunity, but it’s hard to imagine anything based on this post.

  3. Only on game dev or also other type of engineering? I am working as a space electronics engineer and I have been wanting to participate/set up educational activities in Luxembourg since a while now. Something in the line of working with arduino, introducing students to electronic tinkering etc. (mix of software and hardware, maker fair kind of thing) :).

  4. I’m an Economics student and we work a lot with data analysis, creating models etc. Sounds like an exciting Project, might be interested.
