It is kinda ridiculous that this hasn’t been required before
Why did they have the doors open with the AC on in the first place? It’s so wasteful
I was just in France and was wondering why they keep the doors open all the time to the shop, which seemed totally insane at 30 degrees. Then one day the door was closed and they had a big sign saying they are forced to close the doors. I thought maybe the air conditioning finally started breaking down in the heatwave but I guess it’s because the government had to step in.
It’s stuff like this where I know humans just have no capacity to save themselves from climate change. Just mind boggling.
Here in Spain you can see that practically zero thought has been given to efficiency. Things like doors open .. houses are so poorly insulated .. its as if thought that energy would be cheap for ever. And govermnet buildings and schools. So many things like single glazed windows abound..
We need thaz in germany, those Blume2000 flower shops are having a 5 meter wide open floor-to-ceiling storefront with Air Condition turned to 18 degrees while it’s on tje 34 “outside”
It’s better than nothing I guess, but this kind of news always makes me sad because :
1. I find it horrifying that some kind of law needs to be published for people to do something, when it should be common sense ;
2. Ultimately, the reason the government intervenes is because their wallet is hurt with the current energy crisis, while it should have been done years ago for environmental reasons.
I don’t have a lot of faith in humanity, and it still seems to be too much, sometimes.
My parents own a 3 small sops?, buildings?, places people can rent and set up their own shop in. Once there was a grocery shop. the kind that just sold vegetables and fruits. My mom had to kick them out after summer because these motherfuckers were blasting the AC with the shop door open.
Most stores in Germany have automatic opening doors and the fancy shops even have those air shields behind that blow air from the top so that no cool/hot air exchanges
While we’re at it, it would be nice to see all major ( and minor ) retail chains etc shut off their lights during closed hours.
