Priti Patel considering police protection for MPs after David Amess killing

The Speaker of the House of Commons, Lindsay Hoyle, has said he is reviewing MPs’ security “at pace” after the fatal stabbing of the Southend MP on Friday as he held a constituency surgery. Security around MPs was tightened in the wake of the murder of Jo Cox five years ago, with many having safety measures such as panic buttons installed at home and in their offices.

  2. I can’t say I agree with it, I’ve always preferred how approachable our MP’s are even if you’d didn’t vote for them.

    But it’s he’s to argue after this

  3. It would be better if this wasn’t needed but having a police officer sat quietly to one side during open public meetings, seems like a proportionate response.
