It annoys me that any of this matters, all I care about is how either candidate will fix the cost of living crisis that the Tories have made.
I’d take unexciting and boring politics if it meant competent.
“The plan now is to hope they pick the shittest possible opponent, so I look less bad.”
Labour shooting for the moon as usual, I see. Doesn’t exactly inspire confidence.
I thought that once they got rid of the evil Corbyn, they were a shoo-in and all of the public would rush to their side, tears of joy streaming from their faces?
Is this the best Britain can do for a progressive/left-wing party?
We do not want our leaders to be clowns
I was a little concerned when it looked like Penny Mordaunt may be the frontrunner. Starmer would probably have had trouble around her.
Truss lacks both guile and charisma(even moreso than Starmer) so she’d be much easier to fight.
Nice try, team sunick
Labour really need to try winning votes rather than hoping the Tories sabotage themselves and lose votes. Starmer has to be the most insipid opposition leader in my life.
As opposed to Rishi Sunak – wooden as Captain Hook’s plank.
Liz “chipboard” Truss
I can’t help but view people rooting for the Tories to choose ‘the worst candidate’ because they’ll be more likely to lose a general election with same contempt as accelerationists (or “other accelerationists”, I should say, since this really is just a form of accelerationism). We’re all still stuck with these clowns in government for another year or so, which is plenty of time for them to figure out new and creative ways of making my life worse.
…though, I say that, as if there’s a least worst option…
(Besides, if Keir Starmer’s so damn electable, it shouldn’t really matter who he’s up against, should it?)
I’ll never forget the image of Tony Blair in ’97 striding down a kind of catwalk, in a huge crowd, to the sound of D-Ream and “things can only get better”. People were stretching to try and touch him, and Blair was kind of high fiving them. I know Blair is coaching Starmer, but it will never be like that.
Starmer wants Truss to be Tory leader, says press release from Rishi’s team
My sock has more charisma than starmer. Imagine pinning your hopes on the other candidate being shot as opposed to confidence in own abilities. What a shit show if the choice at next election could be Truss or him
Headlines like this genuinely make me despair
Truss as PM… and an opposite saying no to SM and CU… The UK is screwed.
On the other hand Rishi at 5’2 will make Starmer seem taller and more attractive.
To agree with others; what we need is competency, not the ability to do a stand up comedy show or a song and dance routine.
Bring on real politicians – a new breed that is concerned about looking after the countries affairs… do they exist? Yes, probably… but get beaten down by the media machine.
Make America sane again!
I think it’s more to do with the fact she is an utter fucking Numptie personally.
It’s not just that he’s boring. It’s hard to really pin down what he stands for…nothing springs to mind.
If he and labour can give people something worth voting for when the goal has been left wide open it may help.
Personally, as long as the Tories are out on their asses at the next GE then I don’t really care who or what parties have done a deal to make it happen.

Sunak comes off very goofy and phony
