  1. I cringe that rte thought it was ok to have a leaders debate without any opposition. Pretending the silent partner who had a voting pact with the government was the main opposition is something you’d expect from some isolationist regime holding elections for appearance sake.

  2. God love him if for even a second he has to be relatable to anyone other than those lining his pockets

  3. I must say, at the time, and even now, I don’t see how this is such a gotcha moment. I’d say there is a serious amount of our politicians who have done drugs at some point in their lives.

  4. Love him or hate him I do believe Martin here. Not that I particularly believe his answer to be a positive one mind.

  5. It’s the only thing that makes him relatable! I think the “one man’s rent is another man’s income” was a whole lot worse!

  6. He should have just said “Yes” outright, rather than hesitating. Even Barack Obama admitted to taking coke.

  7. Can’t wait for the next election when they’re asked whether or not they passed on confidential documentation to their mates.

  8. Wow he was not expecting any sort of follow up question from that response. I hate how regressive drug policy is when many have tried it in the past.

  9. The idea that this should be a confession that disqualifies someone from taking public office is insane. It’s a non issue.

  10. Id say the only reason he doesnt admit it straight up is it would just become political capital for the opostion which is sad

  11. I thought Micheal Martin came across as considerably smug and akin to an altar boy gloating – no body likes a goody goody especially when he’s a tattle tale to boot – part of Leo’s appeal is more in touch with youth culture than any of them and he told the truth.

  12. I don’t see what’s cringe about that tbf.

If anything i’m more likely to relate to a person who has at least dabbled in the most commonly utilized recreational drug in the country. Martin just coming across like a cleanshirt.
