Was it red at the bginning? Or did they paint it or what?
That‘s a low cloud ceiling. I cn not even see the top of the tower.
Tihs is one of the ones in the book rght?
Oh? I can see the World Expo buildings areun! Queen Victoria had been a great influence!
Just crazy to think how they built something like this, without a tall crane, like any modern building today. Ofcourse i think we still build bridges and stuff on/over water without big cranes still? Also doubt the workers were harnessed much, building and climbing there?
Fucken’ A

So strange… this was just 17 years after the lost war against germany.
Late 19th century was a really strange time, so many political changes (france became a republic (again?) after the lost war iirc, and the german countries united), so many technical wonders (steel, electricity, first planes, chemical medicaments etc.).
I still don’t get why they thought it was good idea to built it. Its nice that it exists but originally it was planned just for the world fair and should have been demolished, yet the amount of resources invested in it seem to be staggering
I remember reading about some famous french artist saying he was used to eat at the reastaurant inside the tower because it was the only place in Paris where he could not see it…gotta admit it’s not that beatuifull, looks like an antenna
I think the original red was really nice, they should bring that back.
