Aahhhh, finally we rid ourselves of this cumbersome Austro-Hungary nightmare. Now, lets enter a much cleaner and simpler Serbo-Croato-Bosno-Herzegovo-Macedono-Slovenia.

Big success.
For everyone saying it was the worst mistake ever, I would like to chime. It wasn’t, for Slovenia at least. It was reasonable at the time. Especially Slovenians, but also Croats to some degree needed a bigger Southslavic state to survive. We we being invaded by Italians and Austrians weren’t very pleased with loosing their core land (Slovenia was part of Austria proper, not like Czechia or Hungary). So if not immediately than in a few years, Slovenia would be in great danger.
Am I saying it was perfect, great, let’s do it again? No. The issues began straight away, when serbs went back on the deal to impose a centralised state instead of a federation, like it was agreed. Just making kingdom of SHS federated would help immensely to ease ethnic tensions. A country similar to the state of SHS would have been way better.
This was Europe at the time, when small states were fair game for bigger powers, as long as they were east of the Alps. One of our neighbours would have wanted land back, or get more of it. Imagine pasta Hitler with his ideas and then there is a small insignificant country next to them. England, France and others would do exactly what they did to stop the Ethiopian war. Or even better. Hitler annexing one nation more before ww2 started. Nobody would care, but this “historicaly german land” would need to be made German once more and I think you know what I mean.
Kingdom of SHS provided initial protection for us and allowed for Slovenia to develope more in terms of economy and culture, so it could function as an independent nation one day.
So all in all, Kingdom of SHS and Yugoslavia might seem bad for us now and for some it may have been a net loss. For Slovenia, on the other hand, it was probably the best option at the time.

In 1929 it just changed it’s name to Kingdom of Yugoslavia.
Worst mistake ever
Worst mistake ever
Worst mistake ever
(am I doing this right?)
Czechoslovakia worked, Yugoslavia not.
Worst mistake ever
One of humankinds worst mistakes
Mistake but I’ve seen worst ones
A huge mistake. Things should have been done the right way, instead of creating that country and giving freedom to the ones who had lost the war.
What a monumental clusterfuck.
If only people would have used the brain at the time, before thinking that it was a good idea to do it in that way.
Mistake, but socialist federation was worse.
Big mistake. Serbia should have only taken land with Serbs and left the rest to Italy and Austria.
Cursed day. Kids, don’t make mistakes like this one.
Why?????!
You can say anything about the First Yugoslavia, but this picture is really beautiful!
The image, while beautiful is also quite symbolic. Two heads with Serb and Croat coat of arms looking completely opposite ways.
What about Bosniacs :/
It would’ve been better if Serbia accepted London agreement instead of creating this monstrosity
I loved the sigle like the idea but execution horrible
And before that, there was a [country of Slovenes, Croats and Serbs](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/State_of_Slovenes,_Croats_and_Serbs), then it changed its name into the kingdom of Serbs, Croats and Slovenes after Serbia joined, and then, after the [6 of January Dictatorship](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/6_January_Dictatorship), it became Yugoslavia. Really a clusterfuck of names to remember in history class lol
