India’s Bachelor’s, Master’s degrees to get equivalence in the UK

  1. Hmm…..what could *possibly* go wrong?

Or has India managed to fix it’s culture of cheating in the last week and I missed the memo?

  2. So I’m assuming our angle in this is selling UK universities to Indian students?

Doesn’t matter what formal recognition we give to Indian degrees, it will still be the prerogative of every private sector employer to look down their nose at them (fairly or unfairly – pretty much like some companies do to degrees from universities outside of the Russell group). So I’m not sure exactly what this agreement achieves.

  3. In practice this has been the case for a very long time, works both ways technically the Indians don’t recognise our masters as it’s only one year but in practice they do.

  4. Sooo… We can’t fix our graduate employment issues so we are going to import more from India?

  5. I have a masters in Physics from one of the better Indian universities.

My son has a master’s in Physics from one of the second tier British universities.

I can say that my degree is inferior to my son’s in every way.

Recognising all Indian degrees as essentially equivalent to British degrees is pure madness
