EU agrees to cut gas use over Russia supply fears

  1. Lots of opt-outs, but that was to be expected if an agreement were to be reached.

Submitted the Reuters report on this 4hrs ago as I found it described the opt-outs better from a EU perspective, don’t know why it wasn’t approved.

It mentions how Spain and Portugal are affected by the agreement, among others.

    > Those with a limited abilty to export gas to other EU countries can request a lower target, provided they export what they can. That could include Spain, which does not rely on Russian gas, and has said cutting its own demand would not help other countries since it lacks infrastructure capacity to share spare fuel.

    > Others were more positive, including Malta and Portugal – which both won softer targets in the negotiations. Maltese energy minister Miriam Dalli said the deal reflected countries’ varying energy situations.

Hopefully this will help us get through winter, let’s hope it’s a mild one.

  2. The EU has to do this to save German industry a net exporting industry built on cheap Russian criminals resources.

Germany is asking for unity now after in the past they laugh and spit in the face the ones who told them that their energy strategy represent a security risk for the entire Europe.

Unity just when is about to save their ass but when is about unity to send heavy weapons to the ones which are fighting a war for us their strategy is delays … lies … more delays … more lies.

Right now in Ukraine the war is a war of heavy artillery due to the flat lands with a front line of almost 2000 Km.

The heavy weapons sent by Germany are just a PR movement to cover their deceptive lies because if we look to the actual numbers we see a laughable quantity which represent just a tiny tiny fraction of heavy weapons necessary for such a long front line.

Right now Ukrainian soldiers are dying because there is not enough counter heavy artillery.

  3. Really fast! It took weeks and and plenty of assurances for the EU to reach a deal regarding Next Gen funds and months to negotiate help during the 2008 crisis. Seems clear to me there are 2 different speeds depending if the problems are in the north or the south.
