My dad was a blacksmith, the last one in DCC and we have this an grattan street origional cast iron street signs. Removed to be replaced by the green ones stuck up on walls. Are they worth anything. Weigh a lot being cast iron . Used to be on large lamp posts. Any ideas of where i could sell them.

  1. Merkins would pay big money for something like that – especially given that it’s genuine and was actually in use by DCC.

  2. I see reproductions of plain Irish road signs asking for (in my opinion) stupid money.

I’d imagine you’d have no problem selling these for good money.

  3. I’d throw you a hundred off the bat. And I would literally see it every day and think WOW, that’s fucking cool, yer dad’s got history. It would pass from me to my kids, and their kids, and that’s the wholesome bit, then it’s gonna get pissy, coz one of em, will have a scrote child or grand child, and that cunt is gonna sell it for 50 euro for acid or heroin 😂

But for a better price, honestly I’ve no idea what they are worth, or who to approach, maybe auctioneers, or eBay and see who bids.

But my tonnage is a solid offer 👍

  4. in terms of selling them are you sure that they don’t still belong (technically) to DCC? You might get into a bit of bother if it makes a pretty penny. Some things belong to the state (old army and guard uniforms can’t be sold for example). I could be wrong, just saying ..

  5. Seems a shame to let them go (unless you get a massive offer 🤣 )
A real piece of history to hold on to!

  6. Irish pubs especially state side – would be so fitting in any called “the Dubliner” you should prep a spiel like here & share pics & the story & mail them to all “the Dubliner” pubs all over the world…

  7. A quick Google search suggests: Sheppards Irish Auction house, and Whyte’s Irish art and collectibles auctioneer. Contact them to see if they’re interested. These are fantastic, hope you get a good home and price for them.
