TBH I really don’t think the IRFU care too much about the world cup. The 6 nations for example is a far better money making exercise for them. Winning the 6 nations and finishing second or third every four years is worth more financially to them. Also having Lansdowne road sold out for 6 Nations plus Autumn internationals is big bonus too.

It matters to Irish rugby supporters. Imagine the boost to the sport? The international bragging rights. Can you even imagine the party?
