This is not for everyone, it’s (an itinerary) for people that want to visit the city quickly (2-3h) **on foot**. You’ll get to see the main & most popular areas of the city center.

This is the itinerary I use when showing the city (center) to a friend or family member visiting from outside. Hope this helps 👍

📣📣📣Edit with more information:
The itinerary goes through 10 areas of the city

1. Old city, Montagne de Bueren, Main Square (place st lambert) & Liege Opera
2. Le Carré: one of the oldest district of the city. Lively nightlife center
3. Liège Cathedral
4. Boulevard Avroy & Avroy Park
5. Rive Gauche Pedestrian Quays: great view of La Meuse
6. Liège Guillemins
7. Passerelle bridge & Boverie Park
8. Longdoz neighbourhood known for Rue Gretry and Mediacité Mall
9. Quick walk across Outremeuse Quays & Paserelle Saucy Bridge
10. La Grand Poste: rooftop terrace with nice view over the city & Food Market/Court + back to point A (car park)

The itinerary can either start from the « Parking Cité » if you come by car or from the Guillemins Station if you come by train, the itinerary passes through both of these. Btw the Car Parking Cité is just next to the Liege Tourism Office (open everyday)

✍️ Edit 2: a few cool spots on the top of my head to eat & have a drink (that are close to itinerary)

– Liege Waffles: Une Gaufrette Saperlipopette
– Bar: Le Pot au Lait
– Friterie: Perron or Saperlipopette
– Coffee & Brunch: Darius, Get your mug
– Burger: The Huggy’s bar or Green Burger for vegetarians

  1. I’ve been in liege center maybe once and I’ll I remember is a huge ass set of stairs. And the train station too.

  2. Very nice, but I really think Saint-Barthélemy deserves a detour, it’s arguably one of the most beautiful buildings in the city.

  3. Nice job! I would walk to the Collégiale Saint Barthélémy and see the different Impasses along the Hors-Château street and la Cour Saint Antoine. While the Montagne de Bueren is not for everyone (the view is nice though), I would still try to climb the Coteaux de la Citadelle.

  4. Woohoo I’ve only spent a day in liege and my wife hasn’t been yet. We will do this on Saturday!!

I got the impression that it’s a very cool city that is a bit harder to familiarize yourself with than some other places in Belgium. I enjoyed the art museum on the island.

  5. Nice ! Liège has really been one of the highlights of my stay in Belgium. The city has a cool atmosphere and is quite lively !

I think it’s a nice tour of the city. I don’t know which rooftop you’re talking about though, but I can also recommend taking a beer at La Boverie, it’s nice, chill, and you can enjoy your Tripel Karmeliet right next to the river, which is super cool in summer.

  6. cool – good concept .. and i d applaud more pple here to do so & share..

very nice tool(s) to get to know our country for daytrips

  7. Superb!

Sadly Outremeuse has been almost completely avoided. Its old streets and neighborhoods are lovely.

Also, I’d make the path go by St Remy street to Place St Paul instead of going on Bld d’Avroy after St Jacques church.

  8. If you are near that big staircase (Montagne de Bueren) then try the small alleys and corridors in that area, often with stairs again. You come to amazing places.

  9. Bruh i’m about to visit the city next week and i had no clue what to do or see there. You have no idea how perfection timed your post is.

    Thank you

  10. I love this ! What a great initiative thank you 🙂

I have never visited Liège, that should soon change.

  11. Nice route, mine is similar except I like to start at the Citadel and then work our way down and back up 🙂

  12. Nice i Would add a short walk through the “terasses des minimes” very short detour from your itinerary but worth the detour.

  13. This is great! I’m visiting Belgium for the first time next month and Liège is one of my visits. Thank you 😀

  14. This is awesome! I used to live in Liege (for a little less than a year) and it’s great to see it become popular 🙂
