Lord Advocate publishes indyref2 legal argument to Supreme Court

  1. The legal argument seems to be “but the referendum won’t really count so it doesn’t matter”, which is a strange way to think if you’re pro-independence

  2. This really is a pointless waste of time and money.
There’s no chance of this having a positive outcome for them.

If the ‘independence’ side were to win the referendum the UK government would say it was a meaningless vote and only the independence fanboys bothered to vote.

If they lose then that would be used as proof that it’s still unpopular.

  3. The advisory Brexit referendum quickly became mandatory once the leave side won. I suspect that if the independence side wins this one it will quickly change status too.
