We should hold those who profit the most, as the ones responsible in the first place.

Responsibility should be with the main contractor, they know it’s subcontracted to avoid rules. And a max on subcontracting levels would be great too.
Absolutely disgusting. Whoever dares to state we have no more slavery… I worked for a transport company with such a “subcontractor”. In reality the foreign company was also owned by the same guy, just to be able to get cheap labor. I fought for these workers for years, finally getting them a decent wage, but then I fell out with a burnout. When I came back the boss had effectively turned back my work to give the drivers a fair wage. I quit quickly after that. It’s sickening how those people are able to convince themselves they are paying those guys good money and seeing themselves as a benevolent employer.
