It is good that it is being reported more. Lets just see if the powers actually act on it.
With my optimist hat on, I wouldn’t be surprised if this were just a case of people feeling more inclined to report incidents than before, rather than an actual increase in incidents. There’s been a lot of progress in educating people of when an offence is an offence over the past few years, and emboldening people to not let it slide.
Particularly with the offences against boys, who have historically been taught by society that they can’t be sexual assault victims and to just man up etc.
Serious question: is anything going well at the moment? Crime is up, inflation is up, country’s on fire, can’t get a passport, can’t get a license, airports a mess… the list goes on and on.
I guess those who support the government might say unemployment, but when you’ve got chronic staff shortages and soaring inflation then that isn’t a good thing at all. They don’t seem to have got anything right.
