  1. Bit of a dick move to pick them when they’re not ripe, but not forbidden as long as it’s not someone’s garden.

  2. An elderly lady looked at us quite strangely when she saw that we were picking this berry and we had doubts about whether it is allowed to pick it

  3. Well if you picked the cloudberries in Nordland, Troms, or Finnmark you did break the law, if not it’s all good. But they do not seem ripe yet. They will be yellow when ready to be picked

  4. Foraging is protected by law *(e.g. legal, also on private property in accordance to* [*”allemansloven”*](https://lovdata.no/artikkel/allemannsretten__rett_til_fri_ferdsel_og_opphold/1948) *and the* [*biodiversity-laws*](https://lovdata.no/dokument/NL/lov/2009-06-19-100)*),* but as others have mentioned here so is the protection and sustainability of the natural resources so picking unripe berries is generally not allowed. Think of it as “don’t be an asshole” rules that aren’t necessarily enforced unless you do it consciously and repeatedly, they fall more under “Janteloven”.

  5. Those are cloudberries, not blackberries.

Old ladies take their secret spots to the grave.

  6. There are restrictions on in Nordland, Troms, and Finnmark. Here land owners can forbid picking from restricted areas. Though, you’re allowed to pick what you eat there and then.

Picking them unripe damages the plant, though and was forbidden until 2003. It hurt’s next years yield. It’s not forbidden anymore, but your transgressions against the Kingdom of Norway cannot be forgiven.

  7. put em on a good high proof vodka and forget about them for a long time in the back of a cabinet..
