Hi everyone, I was looking on buying some items from [Amazon.de](https://Amazon.de)

Those who buy there usually, can someone where their experience with VAT? I have read online that is value of goods is above 300 euro, only then is taxable? Then someone else told me that if you order to Switzerland from Amazon charges you Swiss TAX already, so no import is needed?

Which of above is actually true? Whats your experience?

Thank you for sharing.

  1. If you order on amazon.de (or amazon.fr) and it is shipped by Amazon, the final price you will pay will be displayed at the end of the checkout. You don’t have to worry about anything else, since Amazon takes care of deducting the German VAT, paying the import fees, Swiss VAT, etc.

  2. Pretty sure Amazon does all the tax stuff, never had to anything with taxes in this regard

If it’s super expensive I tend to import myself, as Amazon isn’t always the cheapest place around and I always visit friends close to the boarder.
You just have to sent in the copy of the stamped invoice.

Can also try the others for best price (it, es, fr, uk).

  3. Their policies concerning Swiss customers are claimed [here](https://www.amazon.de/-/en/gp/help/customer/display.html?nodeId=201910940).

I use amazon quite often in Switzerland. In practise, I never need to deal with anything other than order, pay, and receive items, just like using it in Germany.

Amazon has already include the possible taxes and fees in the price shown, which is different for locations in Switzerland and for those in Germany. You may try to change your address and will see a slightly different price.
