Hi there! I’m traveling from Portugal to Poland and will need to buy my ADHD medication there (Elvanse). As far as I know [prescriptions from EU countries are valid everywhere in the EU](https://europa.eu/youreurope/citizens/health/prescription-medicine-abroad/prescriptions/index_en.htm), however, I’ve had trouble buying my medication at Swedish pharmacies because Elvanse is considered a narcotic, so only Swedish prescriptions are accepted there. I’m wondering if it’s the same in Poland?

Is there any specific laws about this kind of medication there? Will I be able to get my medication at a Polish pharmacy with my Portuguese prescription?

Thanks for the help!

  1. I can see this medication in polish drug list, so person in Poland with prescription can buy it. I think that you will be able to buy it.

Take into consideration, that right now there is problem with availability of some drugs and medications. Use ktomalek.pl or similar application to search for it. Unfortunately it is polish only, but with some help from online translation you should be able to use it.

  2. I’ve checked some questions asked by ppl on KtoMaLek.pl and GdziePoLek.pl. The most recent comment/question from 3 mo ago (but also all the others from whole last year) say it’s still impossible to get it in PL and ppl are angry about that. Wholesalers don’t have it 🤷‍♀️

  3. Keep in mind that how long prescription is valid will differ from country to country. Here it’s a month

  4. You won’t be able to get this medication in Poland. Lisdexamphetamine is not approved for the treatment of ADHD here. The only formulations available are various forms of methylphenidate. I’d recommend a psychiatric consultation either in your home country or here to see if there’s a possibility to try it before you come and see how it works for you.

An EU prescription for methylphenidate should work no problem.
