Scottish Police Federation reject improved 3.4% pay offer

  1. With inflation at 9% or higher, that’s a 5 or 6% pay cut. I can see why they would reject it.

This is good news for other workers though. With a period of widespread industrial disputes and protests ahead, low morale in the police force is beneficial. It improves the odds of protests going ahead without being kettled or beaten up.

  2. Was disappointing that Stephen Montgomery owner and spokesperson of the now closed Townhead Hotel Lockerbie hotel website Scottish Hospitality Group was not consulted.

Considering he has a near residency on GMS his omission is unusual.

  3. The government are playing a very silly game here.

At at this moment in time standard of living is decreasing, prices are rising, and the government is being outed as corrupt. This is a huge catalyst for disorder and the government is going to need to depend on the police a lot in the coming months/years. They should be trying a lot lot harder to keep police happy.

  4. Genuine question: it would be great to give all public sector workers a 9-10% pay rise in line with inflation, but how on Earth would we fund it?
