  1. Well done lionesses!

Spain dominated more of the game, but England found a moment of sheer brilliance to make a decisive difference to settle what was at times an unbearably tense game.

  2. I didn’t watch because I’m not much a football person but I did see a video of the last goal and it was one hell of a shot, fair play

  3. 10 replies and 26 upvotes. Why does no-one like women’s football? I notice that women’s tennis or athletics doesn’t have the same problem

  4. Be interesting to see if this is a turning point where Women’s sports start becoming popular beyond just Volleyball.

Boy people are upset by the idea of women’s sport getting popular.

  5. Seemed a bit of a smash and grab to be honest.

If their best player wasn’t out injured I’m not sure it would have even been close which doesn’t seem a good sign.

  6. Great goal of course, but the woman’s game needs to improve in the goalkeeping area. It’s a standard catch even in the youth game for mens football

  7. Don’t want to jinx it by saying it’s coming home.

I’ll just say I’ve had an email saying it’s definitely out for delivery.

Several posters on the Guardian site have pointed out the similarity of Georgia Stanway’s goal to Bobby Charlton’s against Mexico in 1966.

I watched most of the match in tense, nervous silence, but will admit shouting out something which rhymes with clucking bell when that went in.
