Hi guys,
Me and my friends are going on a bikepacking trip from Wien to Bratislava and from there to Brno and back to Wien. I already planned the route, but I have some quiestions.
1. What are the must sees in Bratislava? Like the ones that we can see on our bikes.
2. I read wild camping is allowed in Slovakia. The first day we will ride from Wien to Kuchyňa (\~100 km). Is it safe or allowed to camp in the forest near there or should we choose the camping park?
3. I’ll leave the route below. From Kuchyňa we are going to Czech Republic (\~90 km). If you have any other route suggestions, or any town worth visiting, please write. I think we are comfortable with daily 120 km rides.
4. Any good pubs or restaurants along the route?

Thanks 🙂

Here is a Bratislava honest guide made by Reddit. Check it out
I personally like museums so you can visit Bratislava City Museum and Slovak national museum. View from the castle is a must- also if you like modern high rises visit downtown, old bridge (Stary Most) is for pedestrians and cyclists, offers a very nice view.
Wild camping is NOT allowed in Slovakia. But not strictly forbidden either (outside of national parks). Don’t start a fire, don’t enter a forest if there is a dry spell (look to website of ministry https://www.minv.sk/), don’t sleep near trails and if you get caught, say sorry, pick up your shit and leave. It’s also unsafe – big brown bears are almost everywhere.
Best and legal is to camp in camp grounds.
Forests around Kuchyna are military area, which is guarded. You’ll get kicked out and fined. Rather camp on football field or ask a local to camp in garden.
