I was almost fucking *furious*…
Wife and I moved to Ireland because she got accepted to NUIG. Found a *tiny* apartment on Upper Salt hill and legit loved it despite that (the location really is everything – side note, due to visa restrictions I had to go back to the States) and for a second I thought I had found out **through fucking reddit** the landlords were pulling *some more* shit.
They didn’t let us renew the lease over the summer because they make nearly twice during the summer if they sell it per night as a BnB compared to what we pay them during the entire length of the school year. So, my wife needed to crash on a new friend’s couch and then bounce around from BnB to BnB all over South western Ireland just to have housing for the summer (and she had to leave some shit at their place because of that, like the desktop computer I built for her, which, if there’s damage to it from them I swear to fucking god…)
We were also told we/she were welcome back at the start of the school year. Which, as much as it leaves a sour taste in my mouth because of the lease renewal shit, we haven’t been able to find other options for the price and within walking distance to NUIG.
For a second I thought they were selling the apartment outright because I couldn’t remember the exact number (and that place is legit *tiny*) but “thankfully”(?) I was wrong.
Fuck landlords, man. Yeah, yeah, yeah, I get it – “iT’s ThEiR pRoPeRtY” – but come the fuck on. Anyone with a shred of decency can see that’s fucked.
Have you googled shipping containers recently? This is probably a targeted ad for you.
I’ve lived in worse.
I mean if Jimmy Broadbent can become successful having lived in a shed; I’m sure a shipping container is a vast improvement!
