Hi friends,
Everyone’s favorite lame American here. So I’m in Sofia (and I love it, even if my bf has to translate on my behalf) and an American friend who’s a rock hound has asked me to bring home a piece of Orpheus Agate. When I asked my resident BG, he said “unless you know what it’s called in Bulgarian, that might be tough…”
Does Orpheus Agate have a Bulgarian name?
Bonus:
I have referred to NDK as “Indica” several times to everyone’s delight in cabs.

It’s a straight translation – Камък на Орфей or Орфейски Ахат
Most agates in Bulgaria come from Kardzhali. You might be able to buy* or at least see one in the Natural Museum of Geology (Near Indica :)). *Not sure if they still have stones for sale.
