This is for an event organised on cluedupp.com, a British company that creates outdoor events. But I find the markup for using local currency ridiculous…
Yeah, that’s an odd one. Current FX rate is £1:€1.18. So it should be £60 or €70.80.
I mean… if I operate my business in GBP, I might have a slightly higher price in Euro than GBP because of FX risk, but an extra 15% premium would be taking the piss, frankly.
British company screws Irish people. What’s new?
Just pay in sterling, no biggie
Treasure island rates
Without knowing anything about the event or how it operates, it could be any number of factors including: staffing; insurance; advertising; event infrastructure; licences; tax; legal fees; competition or lack there of; sponsorship or literally anything else.
Because we Irish get shafted for fucking everything.
Pay in pound through revolute
Is it a company based in the U.K.?
How come clonakilty sausages are cheaper in the UK?
If their primary currency is GBP, they probably set the euro price at a premium so it can absorb currency fluctuations (they won’t want to have to update the prices on a regular basis), and they’ll generally round up too. This is a pretty steep premium here.
If you can pay in GBP (e.g. with Revolut), do that.
But isnt pound worth more than euro? So were getting a cheap rate in euro?
This happens because nationally speaking we’re little bitches and allow it.
Exchange rates. €80 is equal to £67.86. not exact tho.

For reference £60 GBP is €70 and some change.
