Oke vorige thread vond ik dat ze niet echt iets fout gedaan had, maar nu is het toch wel komisch aan het worden. Leuk om te weten dat MR duidelijk goede background checks doet op wie er minister mag worden.
So? Is there any actual proof of her defending Russia in any way shape or form? The only thing she did was be vague in her answers… She didn’t want to upset Russia, because that’s where she needs to be to do her job.

What a dumb ass reasoning. In a nice and free world, journalists should be able to travel anywhere, and give their clear opinion. But we don’t live in that world. If every western journalist would give their clear opinion on authoritarian regimes, we would no longer have any journalists travelling to those countries. FFS, the EU is banning Russian propaganda journalists as well, for having the opinion that Russia isn’t run by a terrible dictator. So things obviously don’t work that way. Does this Dallemagne also think he should be able to make jokes about bombs when boarding an airplane, without consequences?
I don’t like the MR at all, and if Bouchez appointed her, chances are pretty high she’s a terrible choice. But this story is not a smoking gun….

Is it normal for a journalist to get paid trips while on payroll?
Or was she on vacation and is this just taking an even weirder turn?

Ok, achteraf bekeken kan je erover discussiëren, maar dan moeten we dat ook maar doen voor de batterij politici die al eens graag bij Poetin op de koffie gingen. En dan krijg je snel een balk / splinter verhaal.

Yes, she did travel there when she was still a journalist. But doing so without Ukrainian permission was illegal under Ukrainian law.
We frequently embarras ourselves abroad, but this is a big one.
Now, Ukraine will likely expect a sign of friendship from Belgium to smooth this over. Knowing that Belgium is one of the countries that are against the embargo on Russian gas and is the country that got an exception to the sanctions for diamonds… We’re not doing well to begin with.
Mij kan het weinig schelen. We weten al dat Oekraïne er niet tegen kan als mensen naar de Krim gaan via Rusland en terecht.
Ma vraag me af als het een blanke minister geweest zou zijn of er evenveel ophef in ons land was.
