I will go on a Roadtrip with 2 friends in a half week.
Since its my first time to norway (finally!), I want to make the expierience as great as possible.
Our Route will probably look like Kristiansand – Stavanger – Odda – Bergen – North of Jostedalsbreen Nasjonalpark – South of Jostedalsbreen Nasjonalpark – Oslo.
Will probably look like (this)[https://imgur.com/a/LQSYX89].

What are places we need to visit, things we need to try out or anything else.
Every recommendation and pointer is appreciated!

Tusen Takk!

  1. If the road called “riksveg 13” northbound from Odda on the east side of the fjord is opened up again by that time. I would recommend you to go up there instead and cross the Hardanger bridge instead. The road along the Hardanger is really beautiful and that area is a well known tourist route.

Sadly It was closed because of a landslide, I have no idea when it will open back up. But I would check if its maybe opened up when you are in that area.

  2. Your route already looks pretty solid, I would just say enjoy the trip and nature, make stops inside some small towns along the trip and look around

  3. Kristiansand.

Since you are starting out in Kristiansand I would recommend if nothing else at least getting an icecream at Fiskebrygga then walk along the seaside up to Bystranda (city beach). And get some lunch somewhere in Kristiansand before moving on.

If you are here on Tuesday evening the Fiskebrygga is going to be filled up with thousands of people as there are free concerts being held every Tuesday during the summer.

If you have time a 3 minutes drive from the city center you will find Ravnedalen, a beautiful park area with the option to climb up some stairs to the lookout point to get a nice view. There is a nice and cosy restaurant where you can grab some food while enjoying the view. The place has some nice old and big trees and even a few murder stories (mother pushing her children off the lookout point before jumping herself, a girl tied a school friend to a tree before stabbing her to death). Popular area for outdoor concerte in the summer or just for a picnic.

Kristiansand kanonmuseum (Kristiansand Cannon Museum) 15 minutes outside the city center is also recommended especially if you’re into war history. Two more museums right outside the city center as well.

Kristiansand Museum has plenty of old buildings that have been moved to the museum grounds.

Gimle Gård has paintings, period furniture, rose garden, botanical garden etc.

We do have a beautiful zoo here but it may not be worth the entrance fee during the high season unless you are going to be spending the entire day there.

If you are staying here for a couple of days I would highly recommend trying to get someone with a boat to show you around the archipelago – it’s amazing – or get on a tour.

I’ll let someone who live farther along your route take it from here 😀 Kristiansand is quite boring to be honest and you will see so many more amazing things along the route.

Good luck and welcome to Norway.

  4. I would personally not choose that road between Kristiansand and Odda, as most of it is pretty boring.

I suggest that you take a route more like this in your journey to Odda [https://goo.gl/maps/3b83k8exAgff47sCA](https://goo.gl/maps/3b83k8exAgff47sCA) It has a detour to get to Lysebotn, but I think its worth it.

  5. When you are in Bergen, make sure to take the trip up Fløien, which is a mountain right in the city centre. Fløibanen is a tram that takes you up and down the mountain, and the view on the top is fantastic. I recommend to walk back down if you have the ability to, it is an easy walk that takes you right back down to the city centre.
