Latvia calls for permanent U.S. troops to guard against Russia threat

  1. Currently there are Canadian troops deployed in Latvia and German troops in lithuania. But both have called on a permanent U.S troops deployment

  2. It’s really idiotic for a government to ask for permanent foreign presence. It tells the world that you aren’t a sovereign country.

  3. OK and why US troops and not from EU (like French)?

Who is going to pay for permanent US troops stationed in the area?

  4. It’s probably easier than convince EU that treat from Russia is realistic and not just fearmongering as it is constantly presented, recently very actively by Germany, important player, due to NS2.

I think we will have Russia invaded some more countries and even directly treat some EU countries, before EU notice it did required action months, if not years, ago.

Probably we will get now strongly worded letter to Latvia that support from US is not necessary at all as Russia can’t be a treat at all, it is just big, friendly cuddly teddy bear, especially on official photos.

    Edit: grammar, as usual

  5. Do US troops have some special fairy dust that other NATO forces don’t? Should treat all NATO nations/forces as equals.

  6. Look, all of you need to stop begging the Americans for protection from the russians. They dont belong in Europe.

This sort of thing disgusts me.

  7. Funny, you all have vastly negative sentiment for the USA in almost every post. Now that things are turning more serious, you beg and plead for USA’s help? Talk about biting the hand which feeds you. There are other countries in NATO which could easily supply troops and defenses at the various borders. It is not the USA’s job to be sole protector of the world. Bash us for our bases in various countries “imperialism”. Bash us for our democracy, and now wanting us to have more permanent troops stationed to help against a potential Russian threat.
