Hey i have a question about the history of Malta, regarding the Great Siege in 1565. I am making a video but sources on the internet are confusing on where the Ottoman fleet first landed. Britannica and Wikipedia both say [Marsaxlokk](https://www.britannica.com/place/Marsaxlokk) but i feel like this is incorrect. Can someone help me with a source?

  1. Why do you feel this way?

Do you often distrust history books?

    You might try these books:

The Great Siege by Ernle Bradford

The Siege of Malta, 1565: Translated from the Spanish edition of 1568 by Francisco Balbi di Correggio

The Great Siege of Malta: The Epic Battle between the Ottoman Empire and the Knights of St. John

  2. Ottomans first landed marsaxlokk, scouting the area and attacking the small village there and then, this army landing was split into 3, some went to the Medina, which was the capital at that time and were soon killed and disbanded by Maltese Noblemen. A portion remained at marsaxlokk and the rest charged southwards for the rest of the villages. After word passed that marsaxlokk is somewhat occupied the rest of the fleet blocked the entrances to both ports and rushed Elmo, it was contested for a long time till it was almost completely demolished to the point of no recognition, so the Turks took this as a go ahead to climb whatever was left of the walls and tower and made a camp at the hill where Valletta is currently on now. They prepared cannons pointing at Birgu and Isla, or citta vittoriosa and the others were pointed at the fortress on Manuel island. These Turks were soon wiped out with ranged Maltese and kavallier infantry, (guns). And it was at this time where ottoman general and leader, Dragutt was hospitalized by a piece of shrapnel from fort Elmo’s remains. So to conclude the ottomans both landed at marsaxlokk and st elmo
