Archie Battersbee: Family argue wishes not given ‘proper weight’

  1. Yeah, lets just let every hispital room be taken up by a slowly decomposing corpse just because a family member wishes for it.

  2. I feel sorry for her, but this can’t go on. It’s not healthy for her and he’s clearly dead. Keeping a corpse on a machine when high dependency beds are needed by very ill but alive people is so immoral. I have read the judgement and his current situation goes against all decency. He needs a decent Christian burial.

  3. It’s desperately sad, but… his parents need to be finding solace in their faith and trusting he’s in a better place now, rather than clinging to a fantasy that their dead child will return from the dead.

They’re just being cruel to themselves and to everyone who has to deal with the poor child’s body now.

  4. Hospitals don’t just give up on a child on life support. I know because I was a child on life support, in a coma at one stage. The hospital didn’t give up on me because I was still there. My mum was told I may not wake up. She was told there may be brain damage. However my brain was still functional and once I started to recover I gradually responded to stimuli like music or my mum’s voice. I was in hospital for 6 months.

Archie’s doctors aren’t saying they want to end life support to be cruel. They’re saying it because they know there is no medical treatment that will allow him to ever come off life support.

  5. Why do they keep letting them appeal? There are no grounds. Appeal after appeal after appeal after appeal. Fucking lawyers are rolling in it.
