They essentially get a tax credit (which is open to everyone) for investing directly in the business (equipment etc).
Most important thing to remember is taxation is theft.
These big companies have worked out amazing internal structures that allow them move all their profits as a loss to another part of their business that seems to own all the IP or equipment and just so happens to be in a nice low tax country. This ought to be a simple loophole but its been there so long now I am beginning to think that maybe our politicians are earning just too well from it to care. The current lot have all been fighting over who will cut the most from corporate taxation after a decade of decline corporate taxation (with disasterous effects to the economy and public services) so its not like we can expect them to do anything about it.
This is great right? Let’s keep on giving the government our tax money to pocket and beat up protesters when they try to do anything.
Fuck Amazon. Fuck their vans. Fuck their cheap tat. Fuck their monopoly.
“we deliberately run our digital retail at or just below cost for market monopoly, subsidising it with our data hosting services. therefore, give us subsidies and tax breaks”.
FFS. They get out of paying their fair share of tax and get rewarded for it. Yet, if any of the peasents dare to not pay council tax because they are flat out broke, they are dragged to court and punished.
We need to stop this kind of cheating the system. Oh look we made a loss! While all the money is piped into a parent company or subsidiary that doesn’t pay tax.
Imagine pooling funds as a society to provide healthcare and education, and it goes to fucking Bezos instead.
