Note: [the work of art in question](https://imgur.com/a/0xSIXSE)
A few days ago, my dad got his hands on a work of art made from iron, he bought it at a thrift shop. In the bottom right on the front, it’s signed “Ragnar Andersson 1996”. After a bit of digging on the internet, we found out that there also is (or was) a swedish man by the same name who coincidentally also makes (or used to make) iron art.
I was wondering if you could help us out with a bit more backstory to this Ragnar Andersson fellow, as google doesn’t really do the trick. Also, could you help us confirm whether this is made by the actual Ragnar Andersson or if it’s just a replica with a fake signature?
In the link at the top are 4 pictures with the iron art, if more pictures are needed let me know and i will upload asap
Thanks in advance!

Could be. Never heard of him but when looking at images of his work it looks like it’s the same style. Plenty of his pieces have been sold on various auctions and seem to be worth around 400-800 SEK (about $40-$80).
I’d say the signature is authentic because he is not that well known. The wikipedia is 4 lines long so not much info about him without digging for newspaper articles.
Oh yes, old Ragnar! Of course. I’ll just walk over and ask him tomorrow. We all know each other here in Sweden!
I think someone pranked you about whatever you wanted to write in your P.S.
He has been sold at the nicer auction houses as well https://www.bukowskis.com/sv/lots/971204-ragnar-andersson-smideskonst-vaggskulptur-dalslandssmide-signerad-och-daterad-1985
There used to be a article in one of the tourists guides for Mellerud in Dalsland but I have been unable to find the full text. You can probably find more if you search for Dalslandssmide or “Smen på Dal”.
Is it this dude? https://sv.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ragnar_Andersson_(konstn%C3%A4r,_1922%E2%80%932018)
Nice work of art, hopefully you figure it out!
