  1. If there is one thing I have learnt from all these years on r/ireland, it’s how to spot a golden orb weaver spider.

  2. I’m pretty sure this is either a rabbit hutch spider or a cupboard spider. They are both regularly referred to as types of false widow (false widow is a social construct, only usefully applied to my knowledge to the noble false widow) but these spiders are native species and should be left alone. I’m not an expert or anything but I don’t think you should kill that spider (I assume you already did), I could be wrong though, can’t emphasise enough that I’m not sure but like nobody else here seems to know what they’re talking about either so might as well shoot my shot

    Edit:
Steatoda grossa and Steatoda bipunctata for context

  3. False Widow with plenty of little baby widows inside… Take it in and nurse the kids, you will clean up on childrens allowance….

  4. A couple of my colleagues have come together to review the footage, and we’ve unanimously (well, almost. Except Bob, he’s an odd ball) agreed that the creature in the video is indeed what they refer to in the English tongue as a ‘Spider’.

  5. One of those on my bathroom wall the other night, I gave it a dose of bug spray after a lot of deliberation. They’re hard to catch in a glass because they’re bungee experts.
The spider fell from its spot on the wall and hit the floor so hard its abdomen exploded. I will never forget that sound as long as I live. It was a quick death but I still feel the guilt.

  6. Feel free to kill it, it’s a false widow.

There’s too many for anyone to ever actually properly get rid of then now unfortunately, but it can’t hurt to crush the fucker
