  1. In a way it makes more sense than “Wallonia” (from a historical pov). A bit like the Netherlands is often called Holland, the use of Flanders to refer to the whole western part of the country would not be that shocking and it seems to me that it has happened in history to speak of flanders for the whole of the southern Low Countries. Liège and Limburg are a bit of an intruder but why not. South Belgium/northern Belgium would have made more sense according to their name logic thought
