  1. should’ve moved to a different area, even a downgrade on the place they lived, neighbours will always be suspicious {and jealous} of even legit cases, the amount of times i’ve heard people bitch about the motability scheme and ”free cars” is in the hundreds.

  2. Then there’s the average joe, working full time, can’t afford a car or house but forced to pay loads of tax to go to people like this.

  3. Well they can pay that back. Its one thing for someone to not declare the occasional cash in hand job so he can buy some nice stuff for his kids in hard times, it’s an entirely different thing to go on TV, fake a serious condition and steal and defraud the general public out of over 700k.

    Pay. That. Back.

  4. This is being misrepresented in the headlines – it’s about social care fraud, not benefit fraud.

The mum pretended to be bedbound and received money from council social services to buy the care she “needed”, in place of using the care agency appointed by the council. Instead of using these payments for care, the family bought holidays, cars etc.

The sad thing about this misuse of funds is that budgets are so stretched in adult social services that 500,000 people are currently waiting for a care assessment or for their care to be started.
