NHS staff and police officers to recieve a 6% pay cut is how this should be reported.
Real term pay cuts police every year for well over a decade. Pay frozen last year despite working all throughout the pandemic. This increase pitiful again against the current rate of inflation.
They’ll tell us to shut up and be grateful though.
How shocking that the government insults its workers yet again. Hopefully this will be enough to push people to strike.
When you look at how food prices have gone up, energy prices have trebled, this is really sweet fuck all really.
NHS staff should be making at least double. They put up with so much shit.
Well is anyone surprised? Sunak has to pay to heat his swimming pool in Santa Monica, Bojo has to pay for his daily cream cakes and Patel has her winged Monkeys to take care of
I hope every single part of the public sector goes on strike this year.
That’d be an alright raise if it wasn’t immediately swallowed by the inflation.
Classic government getting this out at the end of the hottest day on record when everyone is distracted.
I’ve been waiting for this announcement all day. I knew us NHS workers weren’t getting more than 5% because NHS workers in Scotland were offered 5%.
I’m personally going to be OK since two of us work and we don’t have kids, but I have sympathy for anyone else who is going to really struggle because of this.
So for me it’s a 3.3% raise. Thanks a lot BJ 👍
Doesn’t include junior doctors – WE GET 2%! That’s right from the newly graduated doctor to often the most experienced doctors in the hospital that see you and operate on you during nights and out-of-hours with 10+ year experience get 2%!!!
The NHS will suffer for this. Strike action 100%.
News just in, energy costs increase by 1,800
They could have awarded pay rises to match inflation.
They chose not too.
Fuck these cunts and their policies that only benefit them and their mates.
The civil service run the country, these cunts just claim expenses.
>NHS staff to get at least £1,400 pay rise
Junior doctors are **not** included in this.
Tories tomorrow
“The economies fault is down to people not spending money at the shops or going out. Please ignore below inflation pay increases for years”
How are they working out 9%? I am the lowest band there is and it’s 7.4% for me.
As an NHS nurse, I would now be happy taking industrial action. I feel bad for the public and the patients, but this really is enough now. I hope all the other public sector workers do the same. They need to ATLEAST match inflation.
Also no one has mentioned a lot of NHS staff will be seeing increased pension contributions this October, effectively wiping out the pay rise.
Armed forces 3.75%. And they cannot strike.
I remember getting shit for not clapping for the NHS because I knew it was empty bullshit. All those people who gave me shit for not engaging with their moronic selfish fat headed gesture care *so* much about the NHS they will sort this out, don’t worry.
*’Matilda…. Matilda?? Tillyyyy… Bring your Sharpies down, I need to post a picture on Facebook of you drawing your support for the NHS again, exteacher is calling me out again, I won’t vote or do anything but it looked so pretty’*
I wonder what the rest of the public sector is going to get and how much the government is going to try and put people against each other again.
7% pay cut for military
Absolute bullshit from the Tories as ever. Most of the public sector and university staff (who aren’t technically public sector) have been on a pay freeze for almost a decade.
We were already earning 25% less in real terms than pre-austerity before the crazy inflation hit this year.
No mention at all of any of us getting more than a tiny fraction of what we’ve lost.
This is exactly what BT have done and now they’re going on strike.
More information here on what it means for each band, and just how much money is actually lost, due to this “pay rise”
NHS staff on AfC bands get £1400 except the top spine point for b6&7 which get 4% which equates to a few hundred more than £1400.
VSM get 3.5% and doctored get 4.5% as both groups aren’t on AfC.
Unison have a table showing the % increase for each band. Can be found on their Twitter.
It’s never going to cover the rise in fuel and food prices. Not to mention the extra work since covid and the extra abuse from people on long waiting lists etc. I do have a lot of sympathy – nurses have health problems too.
Has anyone actually not taken a pay cut in real terms this year? I would be surprised if there’s many.
Pathetic. Should be 45% not 4.5%
£1400 or what will barely cover the catastrophic rise in energy bills this winter.
£60/mo extra in my takehome pay
My electricity bill alone is up £130, food another £100 on top of that, so I’m down £170/mo on those things alone plus the cost of everything else increasing
The group chat of my IT department at work (NHS foundation trust) at 5pm today was essentially a discussion of which recruiters were best to deal with…
I doubt the NHS will strike – people in healthcare tend not to be that way inclined, but I reckon a good chunk of us will just fuck off elsewhere, and there’s fuck all chance I’m being replaced when the private sector is paying 50% more money for the same role
Its such an enticing offer that even the toothless RCN council have votes to ballot nurses on strike action.
What an insult! Offer a massive pay cut & expect thanks! Time for a National Strike & work to rule for police!!
Fuck this shit, need to strike and send a message that enough is enough. Year after year this government has taken the piss because they know we can’t do anything like strike. But fuck it we should and so should ever other industry. The rich get richer and the poor get poorer. This whole country needs a massive kick in the arse. The tories should never and I mean never hold a position of power in this country ever again. Fuck Rupert Murdock as well the silly old cunt.
