Storms threaten more disruption on heels of record-breaking UK heat | UK weather

  1. To be honest both the garden and I are looking forward to some rain.

    What caught my eye was the following;

    > Met Office’s chief of science, Prof Stephen Belcher, warned: “If we continue under a high emissions scenario we could see temperatures like these every three years … The only way that we can stabilise the climate is by achieving net zero … soon.”

  2. We had a mini storm here yesterday. Absolutely biblical rain for 2 hours. Then it just stopped. Cleared up and went back to being blue skys and humid as all hell.

  3. I like both cessation of heat and disruption. If the heat is to be like the south of France from now on we should probably look into a sub 30 hour working week like they do.

  4. If these are anything like the storms over Christmas there’s gonna be a lot of damage, flooding and power cuts which, by the response to the storms in Northumberland, will still be being cleaned up come next Christmas.
