Finns, YouTube’s moderation team imposed an age restriction on your Geography Now episode, without leaving a clear reason. What facts about Finland did the host Barbs share that could’ve been NSFW or not for anyone under 18?

  1. If it’s not nudity or semi-nudity, I’ll eat my hat. You only have to walk round the corner to find a naked person in Finland. Other people are not so free.

  2. Business as usual for them. The YouTube algorithm is very complicated and sensitive. Or mass reporting? Idk

  3. After reading comments from YouTube (I haven’t seen the original video) there seemed to be brief clip about russian who died during sauna contest, and a clip about polar bear eating a seal.

Both fall under imagery that’s readily available even on sites rated for all ages (news, nature documentaries etc.) so at first it doesn’t feel plausible, but we do not have polar bears in Finland and showing dead or dying man could be seen as it was done for pure shock value.

This is just my own speculation over the matter. If YouTube isn’t willing to share the reason behind their decision, we’ll never know.

  4. I have watched that video so many times, and I literally can’t remember seeing or hearing anything what would so this. It had literally same things mentioned like every other video explaining about Finland. Those videos are new and old, can’t remember this happenig to anyone. Weird af. But well, it is well known that youtube targets big users a lot with these random things.
