Yeah I think it’s ok. Not perfect but far from the worst
Don’t watch if you don’t want to see the whole film.
It’s a little bit mixed up, sounds like she had quite a few influences to draw from and it’s not quite melded together as a coherent voice but it’s also a solid effort, I could watch it without being distracted which is really the only thing I care about when it comes to actors doing an Irish accent
Ehhh I mean I thought I heard Scottish and Welsh too, but then it was definitely Irish when she goes ‘her name is robin’.
It’s not bad, but judging by the trailer you linked they could do with better sound engineers. The background music is way too loud
Why so difficult to put an Irish actress in a an Irish role
This fake shit will never be quite right, maybe grand to à producer but to Irish people it’s another l’âme attempt, I would agree its closer than other attempts but still jarring
These accents can never please can never please an Irish audience, however we aren’t the target audience. She seems to get more right than wrong though and it looks like a pleasant enough story.
I just want to watch it so I can play “spot the places I know”
Yeah not bad. Up there with the best attempts. 8/10
Atrocious.
Not saying its an easy accent but thats pretty bad attempt.
Sounds Norwich to me
There’s worse. Without seeing it was a movie trailer, I thought it was going to he some one doing a Mary Lou Mcdonald impression, she does look irish at least.
Not the worst infairness, sounds a bit like someone from Ireland thats been living in England donkeys years (or vice versa) and has a bit of a mixed accent
Accent is ropey in places. But she’s a great actor, which will more than compensate.
It’s a bit weird alright but she’s a solid actress so can’t imagine her doing a shite job either, would really need to see the whole film other than what the trailer shows and it’s odd sound mixing.
Pretty decent effort. If she wasnt so famously english I would bat an eyelid.
It’s not too bad, she kind of sounds like a traveller call out video. But I’ll forgive her because of peep show
Not the worst I’ve heard but she overdoes it in some parts and sounds all diddlya (think Tom cruise in far & away) and I can hear the English accent come through in others
The Irish accent is notoriously difficult to master though, there’s no pleasing us
I decided to binge Buffy on Disney+ and I forgot Angel was Irish before he became a vampire. Bejaysus and Begorrah that accent is woeful along with him being a fightin Irish drunk.
Not amazing, but not terrible either. There’s one line that came out pure Somerset though (the Hot Fuzz accent)
It’s all over the place
If they explain at the start she’s been away to England for a few years I’ll take it.
Not terribly, but no Daisy Edgar-Jones (normal people Marianne Sheridan). That blow my mind that she wasn’t Irish.
It seems from the trailer Olivia and her kids have completely different accents which is a bit rubbish.
