SPD happened to SPD. They are great at sabotaging themselves. But I guess overall it is because of the not so stellar performance of our chancellor, Olaf Scholz.
Some say SPD is now just polling at its normal levels, and that the election results where an outlier because both CDU and the Greens messed up their campaigns.
If you extend the time axis to before the elections, it does look like this.
PS. The more interesting question is what is going to happen to the FDP.
