I’ve done 16 countries so far and I try to get input from nationals, though some of the countries have been difficult to get input or source ingredients. Links to recipes will be appreciated. I live in the United States.

Looking at the subreddit rules I guess I need to be very careful about beer glasses.

Here are the previous countries

  1. Fries, as a joke. Stoofvlees in a.beersauce to be serious…. With fries… And fresh mayonnaise.

  2. Stoverij

    It’s not only quite typical, it’s also relatively easy to make, as long as you have access to decent brown beer and stewable beef

  3. All looks amazing..
    A couple suggestuons : vol-au-vent , ham and endive gratin, karbonade, shrimp croquettes or shrimp tomato cocktail or bakery stuff like rice tart, waffles, speculoos…
    All served with the correct beer in the correct glass obviously!

  4. Best options:

    * Belgian beef stew & Fries
    * Mussels & Fries
    * Vol-au-Vent
    * Stewed Brussels Sprouts with ham
    * Asparagus a la Flamand
    * steamed & baked Brussels Leaf
    * Steak Tartare & Fries
    * Fried Shrimp croquettes

  5. Chicory wrapped in ham, with mashed potatoes and a cheese sauce, in the oven. “Witloof gratin”.

  6. Belgian beef stew with a brown beer & actual fries, not that premade shit. Get some potatoes & make them yourself, preferably made in real fat (ossevet, idk translation)

  7. Stoofvlees (stew), fries, endive and mayonnaise.

    It’s also what I’ll order in every Belgium restaurant claiming to have a traditional cuisine.

  8. Stoofvlees met frietjes:
    You need
    Potatoes for the fries (8mins on 160°C the first time you fry them, dap them dry, wait a bit , 3 mins the second time on 180)

    Stoofvlees: good pieces of stewable beef (maybe try our witblauw cow!), brown beer (leffe bruin, westmalle, tafelbier (piedboef), carrots (if you want), stutje (slice of bread) met mosterd and i use knorr stoofvlees herbs).

    Good luck!

  9. Stoofvlees, waterzooi, chicory wrapped in ham with cheese sauce, stoemp (mashed potatoes with vegetables) with sausages, horse meat sausages, fries, waffles, chocolate mousse, meatballs in tomato sauce, asparagus “à la flamande” (with hard boiled eggs), meatballs “liégeoises” (with an onion and fruit syrup sauce), speculaas (the real one, not that biscoff shit), meatballs with sour cherries, eel in green sauce (“paling in ‘t groen”),…

    There’s so many wonderful Belgian dishes 😋
