This shameful carryon again. Three convicted gang rapists (one had 225 and another 24 priors) attend court surrounded by large groups of supporters offering testimonials. The victim attends via video. One can only imagine how she’d be treated byt that crowd had she decided to face it.

Can it ever be curbed? Like the robber funerals, it’s just shocking how much public support there is in the society for the worst of the worst.

“At a sentence hearing today, the court was filled with supporters who had written testimonials on behalf of the three men and who were present in order to be cross-examined.

Eilis Brennan SC, defending, said she did not need to cross-examine these people as they had all stated they were aware of the rape convictions.

Mr Justice David Keane said he would accept the testimonials on that basis and the court was cleared so only two to three supporters for each man remained in court. The woman did not attend court in person and gave her victim impact statement via video-link.”

  1. So the people who wrote the references actually KNEW they had committed rape? That’s absolutely fucking shocking. If anyone I know was in court for rape, let alone three people I knew, and they asked for a reference absolutely would NOT give them one. Disgusting.

  2. After conviction all such testimonials should be given under oath under penalty of perjury in a prescribed formula that begins something like:

“I understand that X is a convicted rapist who inflicted a despicable injury on the victim. I understand that my testimonial is a pathetic irrelevance compared to the depraved activity X inflicted on the victim and that my attendance here today after X has been convicted of one of the most outrageous crimes against the human person is an affront to decency and reflects poorly on my judgement. I voluntarily invite my employer to reach their own conclusion as to my judgement and my testimonial and I waive all legal and trade union Defence of whatever action they wish to take against me as a result. “

  3. References in court should not even be a thing for violent crimes.

Like, sure you could be a pillar of the community but if you raped or murdered someone – you should be tried for that.

  4. It’s absolutely disgusting…people trying to defend rapists plain and simple, I don’t care if they played GAA at a high level, played bingo with aul ones every Thursday or brought food to the vulnerable during COVID…they are all fucking scum, no defence…they raped her and then passed her off to more scum who did the same…vile skid marks on society

  5. >Genocky has no previous convictions, while Ryan has 24 previous convictions including for theft and drugs.

    >Rooney has 225 previous convictions including violent disorder, drugs, public order offences, trespass, theft and road traffic matters.

  6. If they dropped a hypothetical bomb on that courthouse full of rape apologists it would be a net positive for society imo.

Remember – it’s only a hypothetical bomb, a mind exercise, not a real bomb (that would be difficult and expensive) I don’t want to get banned again after I posted something similar a while back.

  7. “The court heard the men all have partners who were in court to support them. They are now fathers, except for Ryan, whose partner is pregnant with their first child.”

    What the fuck

  8. They should be investigating every single one of those supporters. No way they go in there knowing what theyre convicted of unless they condone it and if they condone it well they may have done something themselves.

  9. Ya’know, there’s a big part of me that respects Batman’s stance on refusing to kill people. But then I read another one of these stories and like, no. Batman’s wrong.

  10. The character reference of a person willing to give a character reference to a rapist is worthless so just do away with them.

  11. Dion Genocky (23), Troy Ryan (24) and Daryl Rooney (24)

Remember those three evil bastards names. I hope their lives descend in chaos forever

  12. Anyone else notice that when it’s young Irish lads who rape their pictures are never splashed over the papers?

In the Tullamore rape case we had the foreign lads faces all over the papers (even the single Irish lad in that case had very little pictures taken compared to the others)

  13. This is also a colossal failure of the justice system.

    >Rooney has 225 previous convictions including violent disorder, drugs, public order offences, trespass, theft and road traffic matters. All three have been in custody since April, when they were found guilty.

Rooney was 18 years old in 2016 when he raped the woman, is 24 years old now. And I doubt the rape was the first offense. If there was proper punishment and rehabilitation(and longer incarceration of rehab not possible), he could have been stopped from raping this woman.

  14. Jesus fucking christ. How does it take so long to progress a case like this.

And 225 previous convictions? At what point do we say “Let’s just execute them”

  15. It’s very simple allow testimonials to be public record and publish the names of people who give them for violent assault cases, the thought of your name being splashed in the papers would take this out of the equation for the most part.

  16. I know immediate family members of one of the accused, and some of the stuff they’re posting on social media is insane. Trying to make out that the victim has accused 30+ other people of sexual assault/rape and that she’s a serial liar and the country’s corrupt etc for locking up 3 innocent men.
