And that’s the final nail in the netflix coffin for a lot of people.
I think this is ridiculous and will just end up annoying people, causing even more cancellations. Based on what we know, it will impact people who spend a decent amount of time away from home whether that is on holiday (which has to be less than 2 weeks, and you can’t go back to the same place more than once in a year), or if you work away from home, or if you have a kid that spends time in two different houses if their parents are seperated. It seems all these people would have to pay more even though they aren’t sharing passwords.
It just seems as if it is going to force way too many people to pay extra just because Netflix isn’t happy with how they live their life.
my entire friend group unsubbed this last month after ST4, shite platform
RIP Netflix. You became too greedy, like all the others.
Price increase and stopping password sharing? They really know how to keep us subbed. Only thing keeping me subbed was Stranger Things and Better Call Saul. Will bin it off when the latter ends.
Guess we’ll sailing for Binks’ Sake again
LMFAO that was the one thing I actually liked it for, could watch it when working away. Cancelled last month and wont be back fior a while im sure, well done Netflix *chefs kiss*
There’s a lot of shit on Netflix, some good stuff but the signs of time wasted looking for a decent movie to watch…….. think if I was only paying for me I’d knock it on the head immediately
Time to start running everyone though the same VPN exit node, which could always be your own house.
I just cancelled, I only resubbed for Stranger things. I’m going to work my way though the Disney+ which almost half the cost of Netflix.
If they can adequately tell the difference between someone watching when on holiday or on a work trip and someone sharing passwords with friends and family, this isn’t a *terrible* idea.
I’m not sure how they would tell the difference between the two things though, and I suspect that a lot of people who aren’t sharing passwords at all will end up caught up in this.
And here is the decline of netflix. Oh how the mighty are falling
Netflix could of kept their large market share by not being utter twats
Oh well. Tonnes of free legit Kdrama on Viki and Youtube.
I can cope with ads.
Star trek (in it’s various incarnations) is always on freeview tv and was probably going to end up on Paramount plus anyway.
And I can watch Trixie Mattel and Katya slag off Netflix shows I was never going to watch on youtube.
Netflix doing its best to drive people to the open seas
I only continue to pay for Netflix every month because I share my account. If I cannot share it I’ll only sub when there’s something I absolutely need to watch, which is barely once a year.
Netflix will lose far too many customers. Cost of living is already seeing people cancel their subscriptions as they’re not essentials. Rather than doing this they need to stop paying for shit content and stop cancelling shows before they get a following. Encourage people to sun not push them away.
Could almost understand if the intent was to target Basic accounts (1 screen) being shared.
If they are actually going to target Standard (2 screens) & Premium (4 screens) and now limit them to single locations, they’ll lose loads more subscribers.
Didn’t think they’d be stupid enough, but a line in the article about clarifying what a household was in S.America is concerning,
“But after confusion over whether a household included family living in different locations, Netflix clarified that a household could only be classed as ‘exclusively people a subscriber lives with’.”
I pay for two screens. Can’t remember anything in Ts and Cs that state where those two screens are.
Yar har, fiddle-de-dee 🎶
What does this mean exactly. I go on holiday or I’m in work and login somewhere basically not my home it won’t work?
Charge £3 per user per month.. fair way. Not full price if only 1 person lives at original address.
Never understood the business model where you make more money the less people use your platform
Is this ‘multiple locations simueltaneously’? Because otherwise, it’s rendering my single screen account that I watch at home on xbox, then on my mobile when I’m visiting family pretty much useless.
Gee, I wonder why Netflix is really struggling to keep hold of subscribers…
Back to pirating content then. Im not paying to use netflix while travelling.
I have to buy Netflix for each of my houses? That’s the final nail in the coffin for me. My butler will cancel it.
Congrats Netflix, you’ve destroyed yourself.
Cool, by Netflix, next time you make a good show I’ll subscribe for like a month then leave again.
Cool, so everyone will leave you and your business will soon collapse entirely.
Honestly the whole thing has become exactly as stupid as predicted and getting worse all the time.
I now have Netflix, Prime Video, Disney+, and I had a free trial of Paramount+ last week because a movie I wanted to watch was on Prime but not on actual Prime but Paramount+ is one of many “Prime Channels” which is basically just a bunch more individual subscriptions within the Prime app.
Netflix specifically though, if you’re paying for x number of streams then you should be able to use those streams however you see fit.
