I’m deathly afraid of Lyme disease, I don’t know if southern Norway has much of a worry about it so I’d like to ask locals here their experience with ticks. I have called around to urgent cares and it seems like they’ll only prescribe me antibiotics if I show them symptoms of Lyme disease (namely the bullseye rash).
Should I be worried? I have a flight to Amsterdam tomorrow morning.

If the area around the bite gets red in more than about half an inch in diameter, then you should go see a doctor, otherwise you shouldnt worry about it too much
Just keep an eye on the bite. If a red ring forms around it you should probably go see a doctor. If it doesn’t you’re all good
Get life insurance asap.
As other people have pointed out keep an eye on the area around the bite and if you haven’t already take a shower just in case there is another one of those blood sucking cunts on you.
Tick borne encephalitis is extremely rare in Norway compared to other European countries and rest of the world. But there is a chance you may get lyme disease.
Mark the date of bite on a calendar. And follow the bite mark. You can get tested, but not earlier than two weeks after the bite.
Also if you get symptoms like unexplained fever or joint pain, might be indication you got lyme disease.
Souce: Had/got lyme disease 2 months ago.
Maybe keep the tick if you still have it, and go to your GP when you get home. I think it’s just a round of antibiotics to stave off Lyme if you take them soon after exposure so they may give you a prescription just to make you feel better? Idk. Good luck, I get your concern. Lyme freaks me out too.
Curl up, await death
Nothing lol, i get bit daily and just check myself daily.
Are you sure that this is even the blacklegged tick that transmits Lyme disease to humans? It looks very red/brown to me
Amputation. As fast as possible
i usually get 10/20 a year and still haven’t got lyme disease, if camping just go over your body late at night to catch em before they can transmit
Norwegian here and I have been bitten by these bunch of times. In the summer almost daily.. I would not be concerned of any diseases if I were you 🙂
I think there’s somewhere around 98% chance of not getting Lyme disease when bitten in Norway.
It happens, but the vast majority who are bitten don’t get the disease.
Also supposedly if you remove it straight away you more than likely won’t get it
Watch our for erythema migrans (google for pic), bullseye lesion. If you get a redness around the bite that spreads beyond 5cm diameter, is when we start treating it with an antibiotic. Most bites dont spread the disease here in norway, especially when it didnt feed for a long time. Judging by the size of the tick in the picture, it didnt stay on you for long.
Most likely nothing, if you get a big red mark around the bite then go to docs so you dont end up like a mong, those lil fukers sometimes carry a disease, but unless something happends where bite is then your gg
It’s just an average Drammen resident, don’t worry
I get bitten all the time. They are everywhere where i live. Don’t worry about it. If you see a bullseye-rash around the bite, then it’s cause for worry. Happens rarely in Norway
You need to bite him back
That doesn’t look like a black legged tick to me (which carry lime in N.A.) however, I’m unaware of specific Norwegian species.
Where did you get bit? How did you notice you got bit? How did you remove the tick? How long was the tick on your skin before you removed it?
I grew up in southern Sweden and probably have been biten over a 100times (every summer) and no Lyme disease.
Just keep an eye where you got bit for a couple of days.
If no rash by then you are good to go.
Burn it
If its any consolation, I’ve been bitten many, many times and never gotten sick.
And in regards to antibiotics, you’ll have a very hard time getting them in Norway. They’ll only prescribe them when absolutely necessary, so they can avoid antibiotic resistant bacteria.
But again, your chances of not getting sick are very high.
To my knowledge, you’re at no or extremely low risk of Lyme disease if you pull the tick off early. It has to feed on you for a while to pass on the disease. It’s rare for people to be infected after just 6 hours. It generally takes over 36 hours for you to get Lyme, so if you removed the tick early you’re likely fine.
Also, someone else said below that you only have to get checked out if you have a bullseye rash. This is flat-out wrong.
Also also, if you get fevers, you might not have Lyme. You might have Anaplasmosis. Not likely from the looks of that tick, but be aware.
You gotta escape drammen
Just wait for your superpowers to activate.
Wait to die.
Pray to survive (norwegian special)
Not dangerous. Literally everyone not born in the streets of Oslo have gotten bit at least once
Så flått!
Just dont go to Drammen anymore
First mistake, visiting Drammen
The ticks in the Drammen area are usually harry, but harmless and good.
I have gotten 2-3 of these bites every year for almost 50 years at our summer cabin in the Oslo fjord. I don’t worry about it as long as I get them off fairly quick and no red circle around the bite forms, which has never happened yet.
Mark the bite date if concerned. Check for redness around bite area, if none probably good. If you are unsure you can test yourself after 2 weeks. If you dont do that and suddenly experience symptoms do a test. Most of the times you will be healthy with an antibiotic cure if caught early. Also lyme is rare here, i got bitten 4 times this summer, no redness and i dont really bother with it. The red ring around the bite is usualy the big indicator to visit a doctor, they often hammer you on a cure if you have a red circle. But dont worry, you will be fine, most likely you are good and nothing needed, just keep an eye on it.
I’ve been bitten many times, but never got a disease. My family just remove the ticks when we see them, and that’s it. I wouldn’t worry about it. It’s not like you will ignore it if you feel sick from it.
Ive been bitten a couple times throughout the years, but have never gotten the Lyme disease 🦠 ain’t no bacteria got shit on me
Sorry Drammen had to do this to you… I just spoke with a friend about it, and the amount of people getting sick compared to the amounts of bits are almost none. I myself is a 5 time survivor of the «Drammens-flått». If the circle around the bit gets very big, you can check it out. Once got a circle the size of a dinnerplate.. Lived to see the next 25 years at least and counting. Best of luck to you, and damned be the «flått»
Follow the procedure and no worries. I’ve got bitten few dozens times. But I’m redneck so I didnt even get tested.
