1. I would say it is the senders address, I can read „Rittergut“. Text: Herzliche Grüße sendet dir dein treuer Mann Franz.

2. Yes, that’s german. Tho not really readable, because the letters are old
   But a few words can be seen by the inexperienced eye of mine. I can see his greetings (left) and an adress in Poland (right) But the way he wrote is out of date and hard to decipher for me and propably for many other people too
