Europe Revisits Nuclear Power as Climate Deadlines Loom

  1. What’s the deadline the article refers to?
Doesn’t planning and building nuclear reactors take 10+ years?

  2. Not if Germany can do something about it. Merkel decision to close the nuclear plants is probably biggest anti climate act of the 21st century.

  3. It will come to nothing. Nuclear power is so expensive, siteing it is almost impossible, and getting any utility company to commit to the long term MW price to allow for a payback is a challenge.

Unless Nuclear is heavily subsidized, other sources always win out. And then the question is why subsidize Nuclear when other sources are far cheaper.

  4. Meanwhile in Italy we can’t find a site where dispose nuclear waste, becouse everyone want electricity but no one the pollution It creates.

  5. When we talk about nuclear energy we also have to talk about the wate it will create. I know there is one ONE facility in the entire word that was build for nuclear waste storing but come on we obviously need better ways than just putting it into the ground. I heard that people are now trying to recycle the waste but it’s still being researched. This shouldn’t go unmentioned people!
