>people should dispose of batteries in dedicated battery bins at retailers
Those things are nearly always full to overflowing.
Why dont the council collect batteries? Where I live you put batteries in a clear plastic bag and tie it to the recycling bin handle.
My wife’s school ran a battery recycling scheme where the kids could just bring in their loose batteries from their toys/remotes/devices etc. and one of the parents ended up dumping 3 bin liners worth of old and leaking batteries at reception.
My wife tried to discuss with him and it ends up his business offers a similar scheme, but couldn’t be arsed to recycle a bunch of them so dropped them at the school with his kid. He said he’s got a few more bags to send and my wife had to tell him not to take the piss and take them to the tip himself.
I’m not an electrician but something I’ve been wondering about recently is the danger of all these fuckin disposable vaporisers lying all over the fuckin place. I use a vaporiser and some 18650s that I’ve had for years and I’m careful about where I leave the batteries, doesn’t seem like a good idea to have all these li-po batteries lying in the gutters waiting to be crushed by a car wheel
Think something similar happened near me as we got stickers on bin about this.
