Not sure why taking off a shirt to reveal a branded sports bra is a manifestation of empowerment, but whatevs…
I’m not sure she was striking a blow for feminism. I just think she lost it. She’s entitled, she scored the winner in the final.
Also a legend for realising Sweet Caroline had started and joined in while still holding the microphone.
>In revealing a sports bra by taking her shirt off and swinging it around her head in delight, the Manchester City winger created a moment which has united and empowered women.
Granted, I’m scottish so I’m never going to view english footballing success with much generosity, but is this…journalism?
Im really really happy that they won.
But if its women’s empowerment then maybe this journalist should start looking at every female weightlifter, cross-fitter, track athlete who has been walking around in their sports bra for years and years and years.
I would have thought, and just call me crazy here, that the real “female empowerment” happening in that moment, was, y’know, *her scoring the winning goal of a major tournament final*?!
Maybe the BBC ought to be focusing on that aspect of the moment. Rather than this pathetic excuse of trash journalism they offered up.
