Who would have thought the media telling everyone ‘The End is Nigh’ would make people a little paranoid.
Interesting final note in the article where it says
*“Despite being more worried about the climate situation, Britons’ are unwilling to make major lifestyle changes to benefit the environment”*
It’s worth noting that the majority of options where public support for greener living becomes reduced are those which require people to have disposable income well beyond day to day survival or access to appropriate public transport.
I’d posit that it’s not an unwillingness to do more so much as that people don’t have the resources to do more.
Some people are so worried that they still drive everywhere at a million miles an hour, still insist on driving extremely short distances and still sit there with the engine idling for ages.
No they don’t. It was two hot days. “Thousands did not die”
The reporting on climate change makes makes my blood boil which adds to global warming
Justin Rowlatt travelling to Antarctica to SEE FOR HIMSELF, stay at home, get one of the people who work at the antarctica murdoch station to send some film.
Developing countries should not be criticised for building coal power stations or cutting down forests etc.
The burden of change needs to be on developed western nations and their citizens. We caused the issue we need to make radical changes to fix it.
And I am sick of “listen to the scientists” who invented plastics and cars. The one that really gets my goat is micro plastics in cleaning and beauty products … Did the scientists not think how that would get into the food chain!!!
I wonder how many of these fires are just set by people, because 40C isn’t *that* hot, if it were then hotter countries would be on fire constantly.
Im absolutely willing to try a new reductionist lifestyle however companies and consumption based Capatlism wants money line to go up forever.
No sign of action though, which is always going to be the big issue. Yes, companies and governments need to do more and will need to do the most out of everyone, however the average person needs to show some conviction and vote with their wallet to force that change too. Companies will never change unless it really threatens their profits to not do so.
