  1. I thought they had some kangaroos in Schönbrunn Zoo?

A British cousin of mine actually went to Australia with Austrian schillings in pre-Euro times – the bank made the mistake but she didn’t check the notes…

  2. We saw these back in 2017 when we were in Salzburg. Picked up a few different versions to give as gifts.

  3. Strange how “Southern Land” and “Eastern Realm” somehow came to be bastardized into almost the same word.

  4. Even tho Austria and Australia are in no way connected there names share a trait. Osterreich comes for the Old High German “Osterrichi” it means Easter Realms, Australia comes from a Roman belief that there was a mage continent under Africa called Terra Australis, then way later and some name mixing in Spanish we ended up with Australia, that means something like Southern land.

So both Austria and Australia are named by a direction in an old language.
