Most of us know every other week we have a post from someone saying how hard it is to make new friends here. And every time the answers are the same, because most Belgians aren’t really looking to make new friends. But there are always a lot of people who can relate.

With this amount of people looking for some new people in their lives, isn’t their a way to bring them all together? Couldn’t we set up an easy platform (like a subreddit, or a discord server, or whatever works best) where people can have a casual chat or propose to grab a drink, visit a museum or have a walk in a park together?

Am I being naively optimistic here, or could this actually work?

  1. The demand is there. Maybe a mod could make a sticky or a link in the sidebar. It would probably be slow at first until the population increases.

  2. Naively optimistic, without a doubt. But optimistic fools are way more fun than pessimistic fools.

  5. A discord server isn’t that hard to set up, it’s worth the shot if there are enough people interested

  7. I always tought about something like this, but im afraid people will be like the people you see in these reddit meetup video from the US. Over the top uncomfertable people
